Back from Christmas

Hi there, and it's been ages since I have written.  Sorry about that.  We went up to Cold Lake AB for Christmas, and left mid Dec. What with visiting etc, just didn't find time to write. Anyway, we got back about the middle of Jan. and as usual time just never seems to stand still.

Christmas, of course was great, always love to visit the family and the grandkids, that is really the only bad thing about being so far away.  We really aren't a part of their everyday lives.

We returned the hard way, flying into Cabo, and then taking the shuttle to La Paz, made for a long day, but it is rather a simple process, once you have done it.  Then we stayed 2 nights in a rather adequate hotel in town, would have been easier if we didn't have to walk up 3 flights of stairs with all our luggage, but I have never found that life is easy, at least not mine. Took an extra day to get my FM3, (tourist permit for 1 year), but we managed to get that without penalty, because I was so close to my due date, we had only a 1 day window, so it all had to be done in a day.  Hurrah, managed it.

Then the next day we had a 6 hour bus ride up to Escondido where they off loaded us at the road side with our 100 and some pounds of luggage. Was quite a walk, a couple of miles with pulling dragging and resting.  The stop at Escondido is just by the road.  Luckily after a mile or so, we managed to get a ride with a couple of mexican construction guys, who felt sorry for us. Needless to say we were grateful.

The boat was still in one piece altho the batteries were showing 10.5 instead of their normal 12 something.  And we subsequently have had to replace 4 golf cart batteries, due, Gary says, to the fact that "we" left the engine room light on!! Right, my favorite place to hang out!  Anyway, Gary is now "equalizing"  batteries, and doing whatever else he does with things like that.

After putting a few groceries on board, we headed down to La Paz to pick up my FM3 and to stock up and of course to get batteries.  The trip was boooorrrringgg.  No wind, lots of motoring or drifting at 1-2 knots, oh how I hate that drifting bit, but Gary seems happy with it, just tweaking the sails and drifting along.  I become a real fishwife!!

Well, that brings us all up to date, in a nutshell. The weather is colder than normal, at least I thing so, doesn't seem to me it was this cold the last couple of years, but we do have lots of sunshine with the cool days, and we don't have rain or snow, so I guess I better not complain.
